**Description**



JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



**Basic Function:**





Records gas consumption data from residential, industrial, and commercial customers using electronic remote reading device mounted in company vehicle; reports data for Marketers to use for customer billing.





**Representative Duties and Responsibilities:**





o Downloads meter reading route(s) daily; enters route information into ENSCAN electronic data



collection units in vehicle; drives route and collects data from Electronic Reading Transmitters



(ERTs) mounted on customers' meters; uploads data at end of work day.



o Reviews Missed Meter Report daily to identify incomplete meter readings; performs special



ENSCAN and manual readings to obtain meter data.



o Maintains electronic equipment to ensure accurate readings.



o Troubleshoots ERT problems: inspects, reprograms, repairs, removes, reinstalls units.



o Interacts with customers via telephone and in person to obtain information and answer



questions.



o Identifies problems concerning customers assigned to wrong route; updates systems and



corrects problems.



o Maintains and repairs ENSCAN and ERT equipment to ensure accurate meter readings;



removes lithium batteries and disposes as hazardous waste.



o Converts non-ERT meters to ERT system.



o Performs shut-offs, on occasion; paints meters; removes meters.





**Education and Experience:**





Required:



o High School diploma or GED



o 1-2 years meter reading experience





Preferred:



o ERT training



o ENSCAN training





**Or**





Equivalent academic education and experience





**Skills:**





Required:



o Customer service skills



o Interpersonal skills



o Defensive driving skills



o Operator Qualified in accordance with Company Plan





**Certifications/Licenses:**





Required:



o Valid Driver's License



o Company driving test

**Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:**





Must be able to sit and drive for an extended period, physically able to stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders, and lift weights at a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted Must also have keen senses of smell, hearing, vision and color identification. Ability to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions is required.
