**Position Duties:**
The Unclaimed Property Section (UCP), housed within the Department of Revenue's Local Government Services Division, collects from holders any unclaimed property that has been abandoned by its owners, and serves as a custodian of the property until the rightful owners can be found and the property returned.
The **Claims Examiner** is a member of Unclaimed Property's Claims team and is responsible for responding to customer inquiries regarding unclaimed property in a call center environment. Related duties include (but are not limited to):
+ Initiates claims after confirming the identity/ownership rights of potential claimants
+ Reviews and approves unclaimed property claims
+ Prepares related documentation in accordance with program guidelines
+ Provides professional customer service to claimants and holders
+ Ensures that active claims are organized in an efficient manner
+ Performs research to provide information or respond to customer requests
+ Resolves complex issues related to the claims process.
Training will be provided regarding unit-specific computer systems, regulations, procedures, etc. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating with customers via email and phone, as well as with using computerized, web-enhanced databases to enter and research information.
This position is located at our South Meadow facilities at 4125 Welcome All Road, Atlanta, GA 30345.

**Minimum Entry Qualifications** **- Applicants will not be considered who do not have the following:**
>Associate's degree from an accredited college or university
**OR** High school diplomaANDone year of job-related experience (responding to customer inquiries via phone and/or in writing)

**In addition to meeting the Minimum Entry Qualifications listed above, applicants must also take and pass the CONNECT exam. The Office of Human Resources will reach out to qualified candidates to scheduling testing, if applicable.**
**Priority Consideration** **:** **In addition to the Minimum Entry Qualifications listed above, priority consideration will be given to applicants with call center experience.**

**Preferred Qualifications** **- In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate some of the following:**
+ Experience in reviewing/processing claims
+ Proficiency in using Microsoft Office
+ Call Center Experience
+ Previous work experience with this division or unit
